Angel Alexander Perafán’s soccer trajectory is remarkable, beginning with humble street play in Cali, Colombia, and progressing to professional levels. Starting organized soccer at 10, Perafán earned his spot in the prestigious Escuela de Fútbol Carlos Sarmiento Lora, competing against hundreds of hopefuls. The academy, known for producing global stars like Tino Asprilla and Óscar Córdoba, provided him with elite training and opportunities.

At just 12 years old, Perafán represented his academy in a youth international tournament in Venezuela, playing against renowned teams like Boca Juniors and Bayern Munich. This exposure helped hone his skills for both national and South American competitions.

By 17, Perafán joined América de Cali, one of Colombia's most dominant clubs, to advance his professional aspirations. He initially played in the second division with Guadalajara de Buga and Deportivo Independiente Popayán before moving up to Colombia’s first division. Over his career, he represented top teams, including América de Cali, Deportes Tolima, Deportivo Pasto, and Atlético Bucaramanga, accumulating over 450 matches. He featured in prestigious tournaments like the Copa Libertadores, Copa Conmebol, and won the Copa Merconorte in 1999.

After a knee injury in 2005 ended his playing career, Perafán transitioned to coaching. Moving to the U.S. in 2007, he established Champions Challenging Academy in Katy, Texas, and later joined HTX Soccer Club in Houston. Since 2022, he has been training players at the elite level while scouting professional talent and leading Alexander Perafán Technical Training.

A family man, Perafán’s soccer legacy continues through his sons, who also play competitively under his guidance, ensuring his passion for the sport lives on in the next generation.
